Ingredients

    • 400 gr. basmati rice
    • 1 piece of kombu seaweed
    • 1 small ginger root
    • 100 ml. rice wine
    • Salt

Method

  1. One of the most important steps when cooking Asian-style rice is to wash the rice well thoroughly under cold running water to remove all the starch.
  2. Keep washing over a colander until the water runs clear and then leave to soak in water for half an hour (twice as much water as rice).
  3. Add the ginger root and seaweed to the water. Then transfer all your ingredients to a saucepan, cover, bring to the boil and simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and add the rice wine and a pinch of salt. Allow to rest for 5 minutes.
  5. Serve with any dish.

Tip

Use a special rice steamer and you won’t have to worry about cooking times.
