Ingredients

    • 3 golden delicious apples
    • 100g sugar
    • 1 knob of butter
    • 1 cinnamon stick
    • 1 beer
    • 200g flour
    • 1 pinch of salt
    • 100g caster sugar
    • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

Method

  1. Peel apples and chop into balls, quarters or sticks.
  2. Melt sugar in a frying pan. When the caramel starts to starts to smoke, add the apple and cinnamon.
  3. Allow it to brown and, after a couple of minutes, add the knob of butter and reduce the heat to a minimum. Let the apple cook for 3-4 minutes and remove from heat, and let cool.
  4. In a bowl, whisk the flour with the beer and a pinch of salt until you have a smooth, thick batter.
  5. Roll the pieces of apple in the batter and fry in hot olive oil. Dry on kitchen paper and serve the fritters dusted with powdered sugar and cinnamon.

Tip

You batter raw apple too, though cooked apple will be more tender and literally melt in the mouth.
